The Heart Laid Bare gets a Bookmark on the CanLit Trail

We are pleased to announce that an excerpt from Michel Tremblay’s The Heart Laid Bare, translated by Sheila Fischman, will soon become a Bookmark on the CanLit Trail.

Project Bookmark Canada places pieces of stories and poems in the exact, physical locations where literary scenes are set. They unveiled their first Bookmark, a passage from Michael Ondaatje’s In the Skin of a Lion at the Bloor Street Viaduct in Toronto, in 2009.

The fiftieth anniversary of the Parliament of Canada’s passing of Bill C150, which included the decriminalization of homosexuality, on May 14, 1969, will be commemorated with an excerpt from The Heart Laid Bare, alongside its original French counterpart, Le coeur decouvert (Lemeac, 1986).
