Wendy Lill to Receive Merritt Legacy Award

We are happy to congratulate playwright Wendy Lill on being this year’s recipient of the Merritt Legacy Award.

The award recognizes an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the landscape of theatre in the province. Lill has been an active member of the Nova Scotia artistic community for 25 years. She has written nine stage plays and received four Governor General’s award nominations and a Chalmers Award nomination. She has penned 10 films, numerous radio documentaries and radio dramas and is currently creating the series BackBencher for CBC radio. A founding member of Eastern Front Theatre, she has contributed to many community and cultural organizations.

The Merritt awards ceremony is March 28 at 8 p.m. at Alderney Landing Theatre. This is in Dartmouth, where Lill served as MP from 1997 to 2004.

Her recent titles with Talonbooks include Chimera and The Occupation of Heather Rose.
