The Madonna Painter Comes to UBC!

Inspired by actual events which took place in Michel Marc Bouchard‘s native village in Quebec, the story of The Madonna Painter revolves around an Italian artist who always selects a local girl as the model to paint as the Virgin Mary.

The purpose of a young energetic priest’s commissioning this painting is to save the village from the Spanish flu pandemic, leaving everyone at the mercy of the powerful forces of religion, superstition, and what passes for antique medicine.

The Madonna Painter will be in performance at UBC Theatre from November 11-20, with the shows starting at 7:30 pm.
