Sherrill Grace Appointed to Order of Canada

We are pleased by the news that Sherrill Grace, Talon author and professor in the Department of English at UBC, has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada. Grace is acknowledged for promoting Canadian culture and identity through her collection of published works. She has published more than 200 papers, 19 books, and co-edited plays about Canadian art, theatre, film, music and literature. Her titles published with Talon are:

• Strange Comfort: Essays on the World of Malcolm Lowry
• Making Theatre: A Life of Sharon Pollock
• Theatre and Autobiography: Writing and Performing Lives in Theory and Practice
• Performing National Identities: International Perspectives on Contemporary Canadian Theatre (co-edited with Albert Reiner-Glaap)

Grace is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Governor General David Johnston announced 90 new appointees on December 30, 2013. Last year, Talon celebrated the appointment of Fred Wah, Canada’s fifth Parliamentary Poet Laureate.
