Based on his play Halo, Josh MacDonald‘s film Faith Fraud and Minimum Wage will receive its premiere at the Shanghai Film Festival.
During a period when Two Plans and a Passion Theatre was looking for a play to develop, it was suggested to MacDonald that he tackle a story about an event that had occurred in Baddeck, Cape Breton, where a religious figure had appeared on the wall of a Tim Horton’s. Everyone came to see this and the phenomenon was picked up by the local press and soon found its way into the tabloids. MacDonald saw the opportunity to take this to the stage in the form of a comedy.
The film stars Callum Keith Rennie (Californication, Battlestar Galactica) and Martha MacIsaac (Superbad) and is directed by George Mihalka (My Bloody Valentine).
