Endre Farkas lauded by Quebec writers

Veteran Quebec poet, teacher and editor Endre Farkas, who fled to Canada after the failed Hungarian uprising of 1956 to become a leading member of the English-speaking literary community in Quebec, has been honoured by the Quebec Writers’ Federation with its 2011 Community Award.

A founding editor of Vehicule Press, Farkas earned the recognition “for the inclusiveness and power of his vision for Quebec literature,” according to QWF spokeswoman Gina Roitman. Recently, with Ken Norris, Farkas edited The Collected Books of Artie Gold.
