B.C. and the GGs in 2011

The Canada Council for the Arts announced the finalists for the 2011 Governor General’s Literary Awards today (October 11).

Among the 2011 finalists are the following seven authors from B.C., including one of our very own authors!

English-language fiction
Patrick deWitt, The Sisters Brothers (House of Anansi)
Esi Edugyan, Half-Blood Blues: A Novel (Thomas Allen)

English-language poetry
Garry Thomas Morse, Discovery Passages (Talonbooks)
Susan Musgrave, Origami Dove (McClelland & Stewart)

English-language non-fiction
J.J. Lee, The Measure of a Man: The Story of a Father, a Son, and a Suit (McClelland & Stewart)

English-language children’s literature illustration
Kim La Fave, Fishing with Gubby, text by Gary Kent (Harbour Publishing)

French to English translation
David Scott Hamilton, Exit (Anvil Press)

Winners of the 75th annual Governor General’s Awards will be announced on November 15 at 10 a.m. in Toronto. The awards will be presented on November 24.
