Three new books have arrived, hot off the press!
Inspecting Nostalgia is R. Kolewe’s second collection of poetry that brings together found text and fragments of various writers’ work with scraps from his own journals to construct meditative, intellectual, and playful poems.
In Search of New Babylon is a gritty, postmodern, and just plain fun tale of the Old West, in which four wild characters search for the same mythical town in the twilight of an infamous era. This debut novel by Quebec writer Dominique Scali, translated into English by W. Donald Wilson, won France’s first-book award. Read an excerpt from this novel on Meta-Talon.
Last but not least, we’ve redesigned and re-published Canadian playwright John Murrell’s joyful and absolutely stage-able prose adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s classic Romantic play, Cyrano de Bergerac. Our best-selling ebook for a few years now, we are now pleased to see this book in print again.
From Oral to Written is a study of Native literature published in Canada between 1980 and 2010, a catalogue of amazing books that sparked the embers of a dormant voice. Leading Aboriginal author Tomson Highway surveys the first wave of Native writers published in Canada, highlighting the most gifted authors and the best stories they have told, offering non-Native readers access to reconciliation and understanding, and at the same time engendering among Native readers pride in a stellar body of work. On Meta-Talon, read a selection from Highway’s prologue.Thursday August 10, 2017 in Meta-Talon
