The Vancouver Writers Fest announced its 2013 lineup on Friday, August 16th. For the past 25 years, the Writers Fest has enriched our imaginations and the culture of our city and has touched and inspired thousands of lives by creating a forum for authors to connect with readers and by offering a vibrant exchange of ideas and conversation.

October 22 – 27, 2013
Granville Island, Vancouver, British Columbia

More than 80 events including panel discussions, readings, spoken word performances, poetry jams and events for children in both English and French will be held over six days from October 22 to 27 on Granville Island, BC. More information is available on the Writers Fest website.

Big names this year include Margaret Atwood, Joseph Boyden, Douglas Coupland, Maureen Johnson, Wayne Johnston, Anne Michaels, Colin Mochrie, Kathy Stinson, and Michel Tremblay (Crossing the Continent, 2012), who will give two interviews: one in French and another in English. Talon’s own Stephen Collis will be a guest, reading poetry, as will Tomson Highway, performing songs form his forthcoming musical play The (Post)Mistress. Highway and Tremblay will also sit on a panel together as Titans of Canadian Theatre.

Tracy Sherlock of the Vancouver Sun recently reported on the Writers Fest as well, here.

See all the participating authors here or find more information on the Writers Fest website. Program guides will be available in bookstores and libraries towards the end of August. Tickets go on sale to the general public on September 9th and to school groups on September 16th.
